Matariki Art

We completed some art work for Matariki.  We made the stars in the sky, ripped paper to make the Southern Alps and used chalk pastels to show the Southern Lights in the night sky during winter time. We then put on our Matariki star cluster. In our class we enjoy making art work. Some parts were a little tricky and we had to show our patience - especially when we were ripping the paper in the shape of the mountains and when we were cutting out the Matariki star cluster.

We did think our art work turned out really well and we were very proud of what we had achieved. Ka pai Wēka Teina - awesome work!!

  1. Hello Weka Tēina! I like your Matariki art. I think it is really cool.
How long did it take you to complete the artwork?

I like the way you ripped up the paper in shape of the mountains so they look realistic instead of using scissors. I would appreciate it if you could read this out to your class.

    Bye, from Rhys.

  3. Wow Weka Teina! I absolutely love this art! Mrs Scott always does really cool art with her class. When one of my sons was in her class and he did some really cool art. When it came home, I got it framed, and now it is hanging on one of my walls at home. All of this Matariki art looks like it deserves to be framed. Well done Weka Teina!
